Rows 3 and beyond: repeat Row 2.

continue to repeat row 2 until your brim reaches 7″ in length. Or until your brim fits around the widest part of your wine bottle when folded in half.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing the brim to the hat later on.

Instructions for the hat:

Fasten off leaving a long tail. Thread the end of the tail onto a tapestry needle and weave in and out of each of the sts from Round 38. Cinch it up to close up the hole and fasten off. Weave in your ends.

Sewing the brim on the hat:

Step 1: Thread the tail you left on the end of the brim to sew the seam up. Whipstitch all the way across to close it up and form a ‘tube’. Keep the seam on the outside, because when you fold it up, it will then be on the inside.

Step 2: Drop the brim into the hat and line of the end of the hat with the end of the brim.

Step 3: Thread a long piece of yarn onto your tapestry needle and whipstitch all the way around the brim to attach it.

Step 4: Fasten off and weave in your ends. You can now pull the brim out of the hat and fold it up.

Your wine topper is now complete and ready to use as decor or for gifting a bottle of wine!
