As many of you know, my son, Britton, and I started our 90 day journey of living in a tent. I asked Britton if he could write about his first few weeks living in a tent. I wanted to know what he thought, both good and bad. This is what he wrote…
“There are many things about living in a tent…living in a tent can be hard but pretty fun at the same time. Before I came back to Illinois (I was visiting family in upstate NY) and heard my mom’s idea, I though she had lost her mind! I said, “Mom, we already have a tent and it already has 3 beds, a shower and a kitchen.” I was referring to our house. Of course, that didn’t change her mind and she was already setting things up.
I was not ready for when I got back to Illinois, but when the day came, I saw our little campsite and it looked amazing! I took everything I said back in just a few seconds after looking at everything.

This is about our third week living in a tent and we love it! My mom doesn’t really dislike anything about the tent but there are a couple things that I miss from a house. I miss using an air fryer to cook food, not being able to use the bathroom regularly, or not having the best water pressure for showers. But at the same time, showering in the wild makes you feel more free than you ever have before.

Sleeping in a tent doesn’t really bother me that much at all. I would encourage anyone to do this experiment like us. It’s definitely different from a normal house lifestyle but it changes you – in a good way!

That’s all I have to say up to this point, but I hope you liked my ideas and thoughts on this lifestyle. Make sure to watch out for future blog posts coming soon!

Great blog post Britton! Nicely said! It is so cool when you can give something new a real chance and change your mind from what you originally thought. The best things in life that help us grow often require us to get out of our comfort zones.
