Maybelline was a rescue we adopted at our local animal shelter a few months back. She is an absolute doll and such a joy to have! Because I am truly a crazy cat lady, I wanted to crochet her all of the things – and of course, the first thing I wanted to make for her was a crown.

I mean, look at her. She is royalty! Only the best for Miss Maybelline. So I set out the find the prettiest yarn and beads to make her the fanciest crown.

Free Crochet Pattern: Maybelline’s Cat Crown

In this crochet pattern, you will learn how to crochet with beads. If you’ve never crocheted with beads before, don’t worry. I walk you through this step by step through photo tutorials below. Additionally, I have a video tutorial on this as well. You can also find this below, so keep scrolling.

What if you don’t have beads or you simply don’t want to use them? No worries. I have included instructions to make this without the beads if that’s your preference.

This is a very easy crochet pattern! Additionally, it’s a great stash buster. So go grab your favorite worsted weight yarn and let’s get started.

What you will need to crochet a cat crown:

MATERIALS:

  • approx. 6-10 grams of your favorite worsted weight yarn. I used Mighty Stitch Worsted from WeCrochet.
  • 4.00mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)
  • optional: 15, 8mm beads with a 1.5-2mm opening

SKILL LEVEL:

  • Advanced beginner. This pattern uses beginner friendly stitches. However, a beginner may find crocheting with beads to be a little challenging.

PATTERN NOTES:

  • This pattern is worked in the round, using standard US crochet terms.
  • The chain 1 at the beginning of each round does NOT count as a stitch.
  • I have provided a non-beaded variation if you do not want to use beads.
  • To adjust the size, you can increase (or decrease) the amount of starting chains in increments of 5. You can also use a heavier weight yarn and larger hook as well. Mighty Stitch worsted is a light #4, so even a ‘regular’ worsted weight would increase the size.
