Instructions for the Iris Crochet Stitch:

This tutorial is just for a practice swatch. However, if you’re a confident crocheter and want to just jump into making a project (dishcloth, scarf, etc.) then go for it!

Step 1: Chain any multiple of 4 plus 3 more.

Step 2: Count 5 chs from the hook.

Step 3: Begin to work one iris st in the 5th ch. So, work two dc in the same ch.

Step 4: Ch 1.

Step 5: Working into the same ch, make two more dc. First iris stitch is made.

Step 6: Skip the next 3 chs.

Step 7: Repeat steps 3-6 until all the way across until you get to the last two chs.

Step 8: Skipping over the next ch, work one dc in the very last ch. Ch 1, turn (ch 1 does not count as a st).

Step 9: Work one dc in the first st.

Step 10: Locate the ch 1 sp in the center of the iris st from the row below.

Step 11: Work an iris st in this space.

Step 12: Continue to work one iris st in each ch 1 sp all the way across until you get to the last st.

Step 13: Work one dc in the last st. Ch 1, turn.

Step 14: Continue to repeat the second row (steps 9-13) until your practice swatch is your desired size.
