- Ch 1 never counts as a stitch.

Stitches Used and Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- yo = yarn over

Gauge:
first four rounds should measure 2″ across
Measurements:
- holder measures 6″ from bottom to top
- strap measure approximately 41″ (but you can make it however long or short you want it to be)
Pattern Instructions
Start with a magic circle.
Round 1:
8 sc into the magic circle. Join with a sl st to the first st, ch 1.
(8 sts)
Round 2:
2 sc in each st around. Join, ch 1.
(16 sts)
Round 3:
2 sc in first st, *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join, ch 1.
(24 sts)
Round 4:
2 sc in first st, *1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join, ch 1.
(32 sts)
Rounds 5–11:
Sc in each st around. Join, ch 1.
(32 sts each round)
At the end of Round 11, ch 2 instead of ch 1.
Round 12 (Crossed Double Crochet Round):
Skip first st, dc in next st. *Go back and dc in skipped st (this creates a cross), skip next st, dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join, ch 1.
(32 sts)
Rounds 13–18:
Sc in each st around. Join, ch 1.
(32 sts each round)
At the end of Round 18, ch 2 instead of ch 1.
Round 19:
Repeat Round 12.
(32 sts)
Rounds 20–25:
Repeat Rounds 13–18. Join, ch 1 at the end of Round 25.
(32 sts each round)
Do not fasten off.
Strap Instructions
Row 1:
Continue working in the same direction. Sc in the next 5 sts. Ch 1, turn.
(5 sts)
Row 2:
Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn.
(5 sts)
Repeat Row 2 until the strap measures approximately 41 inches or your desired length.
Do not fasten off.
Attaching the Strap
*Before attaching, make sure that you’ve ended on a row where the inside of the holder is facing you, not the outside. This keeps your working yarn at the correct end, so you can continue attaching the strap without needing to cut and reattach the yarn.
- Fold your water bottle holder in half so that the strap (the side that is already attached) is centered on one side.
- Locate the 5 stitches on the opposite side of the holder that directly line up with the strap. This is where we will attach the other end of the strap.
- Working from the inside of the holder, insert your hook through the stitch on the opposite side and then through up a loop through both layers (the holder and the loose end of the strap).
- Chain 1 to secure it.
- Sl st through both layers (the strap and the holder) across the next 5 stitches to attach the strap evenly.
(5 sl sts)
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
