Pineapple Crochet Market Tote Pattern

Introducing the Pineapple Crochet Market Tote!
Hey there, crochet friends! 🌸 Let’s talk about crochet bags. Crochet bags are versatile and stylish, perfect for adding a handmade touch to any outfit.
I’m so excited to share my latest creation with you all – the crochet Pineapple Market Tote pattern! This fun and functional tote is perfect for your market trips, beach days, or even just as an everyday bag. Let’s dive into the details of this delightful project!
Yarn Choice: CotLin from WeCrochet
For this project, I chose CotLin yarn from WeCrochet. This yarn is a blend of cotton and linen, making it incredibly durable and perfect for items that will see a lot of use. Plus, it’s machine washable, which is always a bonus for a market tote!

Worked in the Round
One of the things I love about this tote is that it’s worked in the round. This means no seams to sew up at the end! You start at the base and work your way up, creating a sturdy and seamless bag that’s both strong and stylish.
Fun with Bobble Stitches
The standout feature of this tote is definitely the adorable bobble stitches that create the pineapple motif. These bobbles add a fun texture to the bag and really bring the pineapple design to life. If you’ve never tried bobble stitches before, don’t worry – they’re easier than they look, and I promise you’ll get the hang of them in no time!

Why You’ll Love this crochet bag
This Pineapple Market Tote is not only practical but also a great way to show off your crochet skills. The combination of sturdy CotLin yarn and playful bobble stitches makes this tote both durable and stylish. Plus, who can resist a cute pineapple design?
Whether you’re heading to the farmer’s market, the beach, or just out and about, this tote is sure to become your go-to bag. It’s spacious enough to hold all your essentials and sturdy enough to handle whatever you throw its way.

Pineapple Crochet Market Tote Details
This pattern is written in US terminology.
Materials
- CotLin yarn from crochet.com. Approximately 310 yards (2.5 skeins) in Linen for the main part of the tote, 30 yards in Mustard Seed for the pineapples and 28 yards in Sprout for the pineapple leaves.
- G6 (4.00mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle (for sewing in ends)
Skill level
- Advanced beginner. This pattern uses beginner friendly stitches, however, there is some color work. This is a great pattern to introduce the challenges of color work to those who have never done it before.
Pattern notes
- This pattern is written using standard US crochet terms.
- This pattern in worked in the round from the bottom up.
- The chain 1 and chain 2 at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
- There is some color work involved. I have included photo tutorials on how to change colors below.
Stitches used and abbreviations
- sk = skip
- yo = yarn over
- ch = chain
- st/sts = stitch/stitches
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- MC = main color
- CC1 = contrasting color 1. This is for your pineapples.
- CC2 = contrasting color 2. This is for your pineapple leaves.
Special stitches
- tr bbl/bbls = treble bobble/bobbles:
- yo twice, insert hook into st, yo, pull up a loop, yo and pull through first two loops on hook, yo and pull through next two loops on hook (two loops remaining on hook)
- Repeat this process four more times. You should now have six loops on your hook, and five partial treble crochets (the 6th loop is connected to the previous stitch). Yo once more and pull through all six loops on hook. You will not ‘close’ the bobble by chaining 1 (some patterns call for this). Simply move on to the next stitch.
- The third loop of a hdc (photos below): The third loop of a hdc is the inside loop found behind the st. Working into this loop will push the ‘V’ of your st to the front to create a knit look.

Color Changes and How to Read This Pattern
When changing colors, you will work the very last stitch before the color change like this: work the stitch as normal until you have to draw through the remaining loops on hook. Drop your yarn, pick up the next color and use that to draw through the loops. You are now ready to work the next stitch with the new color. Likewise, you will do the same when switching back to your previous color. Important: when you drop your yarn, make sure to lay it across the next stitch/stitches and you will work your next stitch(es) over that strand. Don’t let it fall in front of your work.
Below is the pineapple row and how to read it:
“ch 2, dc in same st as ch 2, dc in next 4 sts, [CC1: tr bbl in next st, MC: dc in each of next 5 sts]. Repeat from [ to ] ending with a tr bbl in last st. Join with a sl st to first st.”
Using your MC, you will ch 2 and dc in the same st and the next 3 sts. On the next st, start your dc as normal but right before you complete the stitch, you will leave the last two loops on your hook, drop your yarn, pick up your CC1 and draw that through the loops on your hook to complete the stitch. You are now ready to work your tr bbl with the CC1. Likewise, right before you complete your tr bbl, you will leave all 6 loops on hook, drop your CC1, pick up your MC and complete the tr bbl with that.

Changing Color to Make a Treble Bobble
- 1. Work your dc as normal until you get to the last 2 loops left on hook
- 2. Drop your yarn and pick the next color. Make sure to lay it (the color you are dropping) across the next stitch. Don’t let it fall to the front of your work.
- 3. Complete the stitch by drawing the new color through the loops on your hook. You are now ready to make the next stitch with the new color.
- 4. Repeat these steps when changing back to the MC after making a treble bobble.

Tip: to ensure your bobbles pop out on the right side (as opposed to the wrong side), work the st after the tr bbl *behind* the tr bbl and then tighten down slightly to secure the tr bbl on the right side.

Working in the third loop
To work into the third loop of a hdc, turn your work toward you and insert your hook into the loop on the inside (the wrong side) of your work.
Now you should see the ‘V’ of the first two loops pop out on the right side. Note: crochet hook is placed in loops simply to illustrate which two loops you will see. You will not actually work in these loops.
